Serrata . 2025
Serrata is a bespoke table light exploring translation, transformation and materiality. Developed from a 3D scan of a Banksia serrata, the seed pod’s form was translated across digital and physical processes, with traces of each transformation remaining visible in the final object.
The 3D scan was digitally enlarged and 3D printed. A mould was taken from the print and used to kiln cast the form in glass. The solid glass object was then hand polished. Despite these transformations, the toolpath lines from the 3D print remain visible across the surface of the final object.
